How to get a database that is in recovery/pending back online without any data loss?

0

I was hoping someone (preferbly a fully fledged dba) could help me with a dba corruption issue. My first bit is the database is in a recovery/pending state and needs to be taken off the production live server to my local machine and i need it online so i can check for what is corrupting the database. I have found a few articles online but they involve data loss. I am trying to do this without any data loss. How can i get this online?
P.s. i have been given a full backup of it before it went corrupt so im sure i have to do something with that backup but im just stuck with this.

Please can anyone help?!?!?

Kind regards

  • First of all you should check SQL Server errorlog to find out the cause of recovery pending state

  • Hi thanks for the reply but this occurred due to hardware failure on the node and the node got replaced. Soon as the node got replaced by the hardware team, it was noticed there was multiple databases offline. We have a full backup before the node went down and it contains multiple files within it

  • It's not the answer on my question. SQL Server error log has clear error description, and it's not "hardware fail". You can get the answer to your question based on the exact cause of recovery pending state

  • >>>im sure i have to do something with that backup<<< So your question is how to restore from a backup???

  • We want to take the database to a local server and fix it there, to find out what caused the corruption and what pages have been affected etc. When we have an issue with a live server, we are not allowed to fix this on the live production itself and have to take to a local server first. The database is corrupted but currently in a recovery/pending state...so the question is, how do i take that to a local server and get it online there in order for me to find out what caused the corruption?
