Designing a college major model

I'm developing a tool for college students to track their progress toward fulfilling a major and am seeking advice as to how best account for A or B requirements as well course groupings X-Y. For example, some majors allow for students to take COSC X or MATH 1 + MATH 2 to fulfill pre-req requirement. Similarly, some majors require students take 1-2 courses from several groups (i.e. history classes that cover different time periods).

A colleague suggested the following for a hypothetical computer science major with pre-requisite courses (multiple courses mean either or), general elective requirements, as well as culminating experiences or thesis:

{
"Computer Science": {
"PRE": [
[
"COSC 1",
"ENGS 20"
],
[
"COSC 10"
],
[
"COSC 11",
"MATH 22",
"MATH 24"
]
],
"REG": [
[
"COSC 30-49"
],
[
"COSC 30-49"
],
[
"COSC 50-69"
],
[
"COSC 50-69"
],
[
"COSC 70-89"
],
[
"COSC 70-89"
],
[
"COSC 30-89"
],
[
"COSC 30-89"
],
[
"COSC 30-89"
]
],
"CULM": [
[
"COSC 98",
"COSC 99"
],
[
"COSC 98",
"COSC 99"
]
]
}
}

One issue with this model is that the majors["Computer Science"]["PRE"][2] could be fulfilled with a single course (COSC 11) or two courses (MATH 22 and MATH 24).

If anyone could point me in the right direction or provide suggestions for improvement I would truly appreciate the help.

P.S. The team's stack is Mongo+Express.
